Los Angeles Wildfires Information and Resources

The recent wildfires have devastated our city, claiming countless homes, lives, and irreplaceable works of architecture. Many in our SCI-Arc community have been directly affected, and our hearts are with all those grappling with loss during this time.

At SCI-Arc, we are committed to supporting our students, faculty, and staff. Our hybrid format remains in place to ensure flexibility for those who need it, and our campus is open to provide resources and assistance.

This isn’t over—we are still in the thick of it—but Los Angeles has always been a city of resilience and unity. Together, we will rebuild, support one another, and reimagine a future stronger than before.

If you’ve been impacted or need assistance, please contact sci-arc_directors_office@sciarc.edu, and we’ll connect you with the right people on campus to help. Prospective students who need more time to complete their applications during this challenging period can contact admissions@sciarc.edu for support.

January 15, 2025 Update:

We are pleased to share that we are back on campus with in-person studios and seminars. For those impacted by the wildfires and in need of accommodations, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Your safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we are here to support you.

To address concerns about air quality, facilities staff have been hard at work cleaning the campus inside and out:

  • All HVAC units are equipped with MERV-13 (minimum efficiency reporting value) filters, which trap smaller particles, including viruses. The last quarterly maintenance was completed in mid-December, and filters were replaced at that time. We plan to replace them again within the next several days after the anticipated high winds subside.
  • The custodial crew has thoroughly mopped all interior floors and washed all outdoor walking areas. Outdoor areas are being cleaned more frequently to prevent dust, ash, and other debris from traveling indoors.
  • Additionally, air purifiers are in use to help maintain a healthy environment for everyone. Masks are also available throughout campus.

We know this has been a challenging time for many, and our thoughts are with all those in our community who have been affected. Thank you for your resilience and understanding as we navigate these events together.

Please let us know if you need assistance or have any specific concerns. We’re here to help.
