SCI-Arc Receives $470,000 Grant from The Ahmanson Foundation for Campus Upgrades

SCI-Arc is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $470,000 grant from The Ahmanson Foundation to support critical upgrades to its campus. The funding will be used to renovate the elevators, entrance door, and the north gallery ceiling. Work on these upgrades will begin immediately, with the project slated for completion by the end of 2025.

This generous grant is part of The Ahmanson Foundation’s long-standing commitment to SCI-Arc, which has had a profound impact on the institution’s growth and innovation. Over the years, The Ahmanson Foundation has helped SCI-Arc make significant strides in its mission to provide a cutting-edge, inclusive, and accessible learning environment. Past contributions have supported campus-wide upgrades, including a new wi-fi network, expanded library resources, and the construction of the Magic Box, a state-of-the-art digital fabrication facility. The Foundation also helped launch a design education program for LA County high school students and equipped a new robot lab with advanced tools for AI-driven automated fabrication.

Hernán Díaz Alonso, Director of SCI-Arc, expressed gratitude for the Foundation's continued support:

"The generous support of the Ahmanson Foundation will allow SCI-Arc to make cutting-edge structural upgrades, all while ensuring holistic accessibility measures for our community at large. We are incredibly grateful for the Foundation's ongoing belief in SCI-Arc."

SCI-Arc is excited to embark on these latest upgrades, which will further enhance the institution's role as a hub for architectural education and technological innovation. The campus improvements will ensure that the school remains at the forefront of design education while continuing to serve its diverse community of students, faculty, and visitors.
