Oyler Wu Collaborative picked for team to design L.A. River Greenway bike path
The City of Los Angeles and Mayor Eric Garcetti have selected Dwayne Oyler and Jenny Wu of Oyler Wu Collaborative to be part of the team designing the San Fernando Valley portion of the LA River Greenway. The 12 mile stretch will allow Angelenos to walk or bike from Canoga Park to Elysian Valley. The design team will be led by Gruen Associates alongside Mia Lehrer + Associates and Oyler Wu. Engineering firm Psomas will produce the team’s civil and structural work.
“We’re truly honored to be a part of such an important public project,” said Oyler and Wu. “This is an opportunity to make a positive impact on the City of LA, and at a scale that is especially humbling. We’re really excited to get started.”
The team will conduct the feasibility phase over the next nine months with community input and review. There aren’t renders yet but according to the press release “the greenway design will include a bike path, shade elements, stormwater capture features, pedestrian walkways, landscaped areas to support habitat, as well as fencing, gates, lighting, signage and additional educational and interpretive elements.”
The design and implementation will complement the City’s and Frank Gehry’s Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan as well as the L.A. County River Master Plan.
