Hernán Díaz Alonso and Thom Mayne to speak at Mextrópoli

MEXTRÓPOLI, International Festival of Architecture and City, is taking place in Mexico City March 5-8. For its third edition, Mextrópoli presents a program consisting of lectures, roundtables, exhibitions, installations in public spaces, book presentations, workshops and tours, plus outdoor activities that make Mexico City a world reference for architecture and urbanism.

The lectures and roundtables are being held March 7-8 at the Teatro Metropolitan and include SCI-Arc Director Hernán Díaz Alonso, Visiting Faculty member Thom Mayne, along with Rafael Moneo (Madrid), winner of the Pritzker Prize, Alfredo Jaar (Santiago de Chile), artist, architect and filmmaker, Bjarke Ingels (Copenhagen) architect, director and founder of BIG, Alberto Kalach (Mexico) architect of the library Jose Vasconcelos and Reformation Tower 27, and many others.

As part of the festival various facilities will be built in public spaces, some of which by invited universities: Universidad Iberoamericana, University Anahuac del Norte, La Salle University and University of the Andes, Colombia; the Arquine projects, Lighting Design and Ephemeral Space postgraduates; Alumnos47 Mobile Library, a facility 13 Workshop together with Greenpeace on the topic of water of the city of Mexico, and Michel Rojkind as part of his work as a member of the National System of Art Creators.
