SCI-Arc’s newly renovated six-thousand-square-foot fabrication shop plays an integral role in student work, supporting hands-on experimentation with materials and construction.

The shop is equipped with a wide array of traditional metal and woodworking machinery and tools, including new multiuse drill presses, table saws, sanders, and planers, all with the latest safety features. The metalworking equipment includes band saws, milling machines, lathes, welders, and grinders.

The facility enables and encourages innovation with materials, including wood, metals, plastics, and concrete, and allows for the creation and assembly of substantial projects. The shop is staffed with experts who instruct and guide students in the use of the equipment so they can bring their projects to life, from model making to full-size construction of furniture and architectural elements. The shop has space for outdoor work year-round as needed.
