The mission of NOMAS (National Organization of Minority Architecture Students) is to promote justice and equity in communities of color through various means, including outreach, community advocacy, professional development, and design excellence. Although NOMA(S)’s activities focus on minority groups, the organization welcomes anyone who shares and supports their goals, bylaws, and mission to become a member and participate.

As a result of SCI-Arc's 2020 structural actions to promote access for communities historically excluded from architecture and design and a subsequent partnership with SoCal NOMA, SCI-Arc students established a NOMAS chapter on campus. In the fall of 2022, SCI-Arc sponsored three NOMAS students to attend the national conference and the team placed second overall in the competition of 40+ teams.

This year, the NOMAS student chapter is fundraising to send a team of 10 SCI-Arc students to compete at the national conference in Portland, Oregon.

Your contribution goes toward the costs of airfare, hotel accommodations, and conference registration fees for this year’s NOMAS team. Any surplus will go toward program and conference expenses for the next academic year. Thank you for your support!
