SUNDAY SALON: Chado and Space Transformation

Kappe Library
April 02, 2017 at 2:00pm

The Urasenke Tankokai Los Angeles Association will present a chado demonstration in the Kappe Library at SCI-Arc, Sunday, April 2, at 2:00 p.m. After the demonstration, the audience will have a chance to make their own tea, and sample traditional sweets.

Commonly known as “tea ceremony” in English, Chado is more accurately translated as “way of tea.” Based on the simplest acts—boiling water, making tea, offering and receiving it—chado has developed into a spiritual and aesthetic discipline, aimed at discovering a place where the mentally and physically exhausted can experience a moment of tranquility.
