Application Form & Fee
In order to apply, you will need to fill out the online application form and submit the nonrefundable application fee of $85. This fee may be paid electronically when you initially submit your online application form. If you decide to pay the application later, you can either submit to the admissions office a completed credit authorization form or mail your payment to SCI-Arc’s Admissions Office directly. Checks and/or money orders must be made payable to SCI-Arc.

This statement should consist of 500-1000 words and respond to a specific prompt depending on the program to which you are applying. Each program-specific prompt can be found on SlideRoom.
All applicants are required to submit a resume or curriculum vitae (CV). This document should outline your education, professional experiences, academic and artistic achievements, and/or published works.
Letters of Recommendation
Applicants must submit three (3) letters of recommendation, which should attest to their academic achievements and/or creative abilities, or professional experience. At least two (2) letters of recommendation should come from past or current instructors. Applicants with extensive work experience may submit letters of recommendation from professional references instead.
Undergraduate Applicants: All undergraduate applicants must submit a copy of their academic transcripts from high school that show all of the coursework they have completed and grades earned from grades nine (9) through twelve (12). Any undergraduate applicants who have completed any college coursework must also submit a copy of these academic transcripts. These records must include coursework through the most recent term at each school. All transcripts must be scanned and uploaded directly.
Students who have successfully completed 60 or more undergraduate credit hours/units as of the stated deadline are not required to submit a copy of their high school transcript. Applicants who have attended or are attending an educational institution outside of the United States are required to have their transcripts evaluated by World Education Services (WES), our preferred provider, or by another member of the National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES), to determine the equivalence of their education to the United States educational system.
Graduate/Postgraduate Applicants: All graduate applicants must submit a copy of their academic transcripts from any and all colleges/universities they have attended since graduating from high school, regardless of credits received or courses completed. These records must include coursework through the most recent term at each school. All transcripts must be scanned and uploaded directly to SlideRoom. All applicants are required to submit a portfolio of creative work. Portfolios should consist of a minimum of fifteen (15) pieces of work. Specific portfolio requirements for each program can be found at SlideRoom. Hard copy portfolios will NOT be accepted.
SAT I or ACT
All undergraduate applicants are required to submit test results from either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) or the American College Test (ACT). SCI-Arc does not accept any SAT subject tests in place of the SAT I. To register for these exams, please visit www.collegeboard.com or www.act.org. SCI-Arc’s SAT school code is 1575; SCI-Arc’s ACT school code is 0423. SAT I/ACT test scores must be uploaded directly to the applicant's SlideRoom account by the appropriate deadline. Applicants that have completed 24 or more undergraduate credit hours as of the date of the deadline are not required to submit an SAT I/ACT test score.
Applicants to the M.Arch 1 or M.Arch 2 programs are required to submit official test scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test. To register for the GRE, visit www.ets.org/gre. SCI-Arc’s GRE school code is 2781. GRE test scores must be uploaded directly to the applicant's SlideRoom account by the appropriate deadline.
All international students applying from non-English speaking countries are required to submit scores from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum score requirement is ninety-two (92) for the Internet-based TOEFL or a 7.0 band score for the IELTS. SCI-Arc’s TOEFL school code is 7802. TOEFL/IELTS test scores must be uploaded directly to the applicants SlideRoom account by the appropriate deadline.
Students who have completed a minimum of two years of formal instruction at an institution where English is the primary language of instruction or are citizens of Canada (excluding Quebec), Australia, Ireland, New Zealand or the United Kingdom are eligible to waive this requirement. Only test scores completed within the past two years will be accepted. To register for the TOEFL and/or IELTS exam, visit www.toefl.org or www.ielts.org.
Notification of Acceptance
Undergraduate applicants applying for the fall semester will be notified on a rolling basis between the months of April and June. Undergraduate applicants applying for the spring semester will be notified on a rolling basis between mid-October and mid-November. Graduate applicants will be notified of their admission status between the months of March and April. Students who accept SCI-Arc’s offer of admission are required to submit a nonrefundable deposit, which reserves their place in the entering class. This deposit will be applied toward tuition for their first semester at SCI-Arc. International students will be required to submit an additional tuition deposit in order to begin the I-20 process. If the enrollment deposit is not received by the appropriate deadline, the applicant may forfeit his/her place in the entering class.
Waiting list placement: Applicants placed on the waiting list will be notified on a rolling basis as positions become available in the entering class.
Admission deferment: Students accepted to SCI-Arc may defer their acceptance for up to one academic year. In order to defer one’s acceptance, a nonrefundable deposit and an official request explaining the reason for deferment must be submitted to the Admissions Office by the appropriate deadline. An official letter confirming the student’s request to defer their admission will be mailed to the student within thirty days of submitting their request. Any deferment requests received after the deadline are subject to approval by the Admissions Office. If an applicant fails to enroll at SCI-Arc in the following year, he/she must then reapply for admission in the following year. Applicants accepted from the wait list will not have the option to defer their acceptance and must reapply if they wish to be considered for admission in the following year.
