The program learning outcomes are premised on the thesis that design theory and pedagogy are manifest in society in complex and surprising ways and requires critical, technical, and institutional expertise. Contemporary design theory and pedagogy is pluralistic and cosmopolitan in nature. A complex social phenomenon, design theory is understood as something that needs to be actively produced and not passively discovered. Students become capable of producing strong theoretical positions and corresponding pedagogical models in support of it.
