SCI-Arc Online Auction Benefiting Alumni Scholarship and Outreach Activities
Beginning January 26th and concluding February 4th, the SCI-Arc Alumni Association will sponsor an online auction that benefits the Association’s Student Scholarship Fund and Alumni Outreach activities.
You can bid at Ebay or Mission Fish.
Bids start at $10 with a $100 reserve.
The theme of the auction is Point of View. Each photograph featured captures an iconic edifice or architectural feature that reflects the artist’s point of view. In conjunction with the Association’s signature fundraiser, Main Event VI, more than 100 color and black and white photographs were donated SCI-Arc alumni and faculty, as well as outside architects and designers, including Michael Rotondi, Don Chadwick, Patrick Tighe, David Hertz and SCI-Arc Directors Eric Owen Moss, Ming Fung and Chris Genik. Roughly half of the photos were featured at the Main Event. The remaining photos are featured in this online auction via EBay.
Each photograph is encased in a 16” x 20” black frame with white matting. The starting bid for each photograph is $100, with $25 raised increments.
As the cost of tuition increases at all educational institutions, so too has the request for financial aid from students, including ours. Although SCI-Arc provides qualifying students with such resources, the majority of students still require outside financial assistance. Students forced to apply for high-priced loans, take excessive part-time jobs or drastically cut their living expenses compromise their ability to learn.
Your generous contribution to our scholarship endowment will help us increase the availability of scholarships, which is one of the most persuasive recruitment tools SCI-Arc employs in the intense competition to attract the very best students from around the world.
Please contact Lynn Ordinario at 213.356.5312 for more information.
East Coast Alumni Event
10.25.07
The annual East Coast Alumni Event will take place at the Architectural League in New York, Thursday, October 25 from 6 - 8pm.
Eric Owen Moss and the new Chair of the Board, John Geresi, will bring the group up-to-date on all the goings-on at SCI-Arc. The goal this year is to bring SCI-Arc's historic lecture series to the web. When complete, over 1000 lectures from iconic architects and artists will be available via the school's website. Forty lectures are already available online and we encourage you to take a look.
If you're interested in contributing to this effort, please contact Lynn Ordinario at 213-356-5312 or via email. Or you can drop a check in the mail, made payable to SCI-Arc and designate the contribution for the digital archive of the lecture series.
