Inside SCI-Arc

City Blogs, Magazine Feature Alumni-designed Lounge

One of Hollywood's latest entertainment destinations, The Spare Room, a cocktail lounge designed by SCI-Arc alumni Adam Goldstein (MArch '01) and Christian Schultz (MArch '01) of [Studio Collective], has been featured widely in magazines and city blogs including Vogue, LA Weekly,, and among others.

Located at the mezzanine level of the Roosevelt Hotel, The Spare Room is one of three projects the firm has been commissioned to design at the Roosevelt, including the upcoming Public Kitchen & Bar in the former Dakota space.

Formerly a storage space, the Spare Room is an early 20th-century inspired, gaming-themed lounge. One of its most eye-catching design features is likely the dual vintage wooden bowling lanes, while its tables evoking vintage steamer trunks and details such as art deco light fixtures and pullout drink holders add to the sophisticated mix.
