Manferdini Lectures at Harvard GSD

SCI-Arc faculty member Elena Manferdini, principal of Atelier Manferdini, will lecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in the Directions in Computation Design symposium taking place on Wednesday, November 3.

Since the advent of computing and automated tools, the practice of design has been greatly transformed, often at the expense of the broader culture of ideas, inquiry and position-taking that used to direct the goals of design.

Among key topics to be addressed by the panel are the problems of form today and how they connect to other important issues that confront designers; the importance of new computational techniques; and what designers need to know and take into account about the evolution of computational design.

In addition to Manferdini, the panel includes Paul Anderson of !ndie architecture, Nick Gelpi, MIT lecturer and founder of Paleo Design Studio, Rhett Russo of the New Jersey Science and Technology University, and David Ruy, director of Ruy Klein and associate professor at Pratt Institute.
