Making the Eternal New: Recent Work of Moule & Polyzoides, Architects and Urbanists
The exhibition featuree models, plans, and 2D and 3D drawings of two architecture and urban planning projects: the Robert Redford Building for Natural Resources Defense Council in Santa Monica, CA, and a master plan for Placentia, CA.
Moule & Polyzoides focuses on physically reconstructing the American metropolis by addressing the consequences of two generations of suburban sprawl. The work is grounded in social, environmental and economic issues, and its aesthetic is rooted in the history of the city and landscape. Current projects include various college master plans and buildings, a number of traditional neighborhoods and downtowns, transit oriented developments and courtyard housing projects. Most recently, the Robert Redford Building for the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in Santa Monica was awarded the highest LEED Platinum rating by the US Green Building Council. The work of the firm has been widely published in magazines and books around the world. Both Elizabeth Moule and Stefanos Polyzoides have written on history, architecture and urbanism, are co-founders and board members of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU), and were awarded the Seaside Award.
